Tennessee's Constitution: Continuity and Change, 1796-1870
The Tennessee State Library & Archives is pleased to offer our in-person teacher workshops for the 2024-2025 school year. During these workshops, we will explore the Tennessee Constitution and the periods of history (1796, 1834, and 1870) that led to its creation and revision. Tennessee Social Studies and English Language Arts standards related to the State Constitution will be explored along with how Tennessee became a state.
Using diverse mediums such as maps, historical speeches, diaries, political cartoons, newspapers, and other informational texts, we will provide opportunities for educators to discover activities that build student background knowledge and engage the classroom in a cross-curricular approach.
